Are you truly “living well”?

Are you living "well"?

Are you living “well”?

“We shape our dwellings, and afterwards, our dwellings shape us.”-Winston Churchill

I love this quote about the power of our surroundings.  I am reminded of a story about a man in  France.  This man worked long hours every day and lived in a small, sparsely furnished apartment.  He invited guests to dinner one evening.  When the guests opened the door that cold winter evening they were surprised to walk into warm, heated room.  Before them was placed a beautiful plate of quality meats and cheeses.  The French factory worker sensed the confusion on his dinner guest’s face and replied, ” I work long hours at a demanding job, six days a week.  I have made a choice to always be comfortable.”  This story took place over twenty years ago and the dinner guest was my husband.  I have thought about this story so many times in my life and the outward contrast between the man’s circumstances and his outlook on life.  We do not have to live in a mansion to “live well” like this Frenchman.  We have the freedom to change our circumstances, be rid of clutter, and carefully choose the very “best and happy” parts of our life to come home to, wherever that home may be.  Elevate your spirit by making one change to make your home a sanctuary for you to find comfort in, not stress.

Happy Organizing!
